Meet the Jodag Makers
Inner Mongolian Wrestling is known as “Mongol Bokh” in the Mongolian language. This particular style of wrestling is different from the Mongolian wrestling of Mongolia the country (sometimes referred to as “Outer Mongolia”). Inner Mongolian wrestling has a distinct traditional uniform characterized by the leather and metal studded “Jodag” (the Mongolian word for the wrestling jacket).
Our jodags are authentically handmade by local Mongolian craftsmen in Abaga, Xilingol, Inner Mongolia, China. Each jacket is handmade one-by-one by a small family owned business which specializes in this unique craft. It is our goal to promote and support local Inner Mongolian craftsmanship and business, and this family wanted to work with us in order to spread Mongolian culture and wrestling with the rest of the world. Until now, authentic Inner Mongolian wrestling jackets were unavailable anywhere outside of the local grasslands and towns of Inner Mongolia. This is the first time that these handcrafted and unique wrestling uniforms can be shared with the rest of the world with the goal of globalizing and supporting traditional Inner Mongolian Bokh.
Each handmade jacket is cut from high quality leather and custom tailored to your exact measurements. Each jodag is lovingly and painstakingly sown by hand and carefully crafted with a lot of time and effort. The emblem on the back of the jacket is our own custom Bokhin Ayin logo which was designed and created by a local Mongolian artist named “Art Jonon”.
We are proud to share the story of how our products are made, who they are made by, and how the art, culture, and craftsmanship are all a part of our journey; “A Wrestler’s Journey”, Bokhin Ayin.
